Satori ~ Zazen, Koan, Sanzen
  |
Satori is mystical experience and basis for further Zen development. It is attained via three components: zazen, or seated meditation; the koan, a seemingly-illogical riddle for transcending mental limitations, to be meditated upon; and sanzen, a private meeting with a teacher, who accepts or rejects solutions as well as offering encouragement.
The upright triangle, abstractly resembling a seated figure in meditation, represents zazen. The circle, with its endless loop seemingly impossible of escape, represents the koan. The heart could be considered to abstractly represent two figures closely facing each other as in consultation and represents sanzen. See also Zen.
