The maiden is emblematic of inception and the promise of new beginnings, represented by the waxing moon. The mother represents fertility, sexuality, fulfillment, power and life, represented by the full moon. The crone represents wisdom and endings, represented by the waning moon.

In the context of the faith symbol the triangle— inceptive and basic— represents the maiden. The circle, a symbol of life and obviously in this interpretation the full moon, represents the mother. The heart, an emblem of wisdom as well as love, here represents the crone.
