While few gods of the early pantheons still have believers, their traditions have certainly influenced and helped pave the way for later systems. Further many of the classic mythologies had triads, mysterious unions of three deities. In a general sense each triad was described as consisting of a creator, preserver, and destroyer or transformer.

The creator aspect is here represented by the triangle, a basic, internal shape for the source and structure of everything. Preserver is represented by the circle, which rounds out (encompasses and protects) the triangle. Destroyer or transformer is expressed by the heart, a more complex symbol in both shape and interpretation.
