Dialectic ~ Thesis, Antithesis, Synthesis
  |
A dialectic is often described as working in three stages— a thesis or initial proposition; an antithesis or reaction, which contradicts or negates the thesis; and a synthesis, or resolution of the tension between thesis and antithesis.
The triangle, with its straight lines and sharp corners, represents the thesis. The circle, with no straight lines and no corners, represents a contrasting antithesis. The heart, with its curves and corners, here symbolizes a resolution or synthesis.
